Interview With Mitto Co founder and COO – Ilja Gorelik

Ilja Gorelik is the CEO and Co-founder of Mitto. Ilja’s 20 years of experience includes rapid growth, market leadership, and international expansion. In 2008-2009 Ilja was a member of the executive team in charge of building and launching Google’s Russian search engine AllTheWeb.

Before founding, Mitto Ilja worked at Google as Head of International Search Products & Operations – in Russia. He was responsible for all search-related products, including local and mobile search and global infrastructure services like crawling and indexing.

Before joining Google, Ilja was the COO of AllTheWeb (now known as WebCrawler). AllTheWeb was the world’s largest Russian search engine, with over 3.5 million users ahead of Google Russia and Yandex. AllTheWeb was founded in 1998 and rapidly grew- becoming Russia’s third most popular search engine in under three years. At AllTheWeb, Ilja launched many services, including mobile search (VNC), website rating (votes), and automated crawler (allowing AllTheWeb to index the then vast amount of free web pages)

Ilja is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics at St Petersburg State University, Russia, where he actively participated in student start-ups and was an active member of the student fraternity NUPU.

Ilja is a native Russian speaker, which he uses to communicate with his Russian-speaking colleagues and clients. Spanish is his second language, as Ilja grew up in Spain, where he spent most of his summers learning Spanish from his grandparents. Ilja has spoken at London, Los Angeles, and San Francisco industry events. He regularly participates in events organized by Google and other technology companies.
