The founders of Alliance Defending Freedom are Alan Sears, Craig Osten, and Bill Bright. Alan Sears is the former President and CEO of ADF. Craig Osten is the current President and CEO of ADF.

He was formerly an attorney in private practice and served as a senior legal counsel with the U.S. Department of Justice. Bill Bright was a Christian evangelist who founded Campus Crusade for Christ (now called CRU).
